Staggered Entry for Grand Erie Students in September
The staggered entry for elementary schools will see students attending in-class instruction in the following order:
- Tuesday, September 8
No classes
- Wednesday, September 9
No classes
- Thursday, September 10
Students with last names A-L
- Friday, September 11
Students with last names M-Z
- Monday, September 14
Students with last names A-L
- Tuesday, September 15
Students with last names M-Z
- Wednesday, September 16

Face Masks
Students in Grades 4-12 (including students in grade 3/4 split classess) will be required to wear a non-medical mask all day, as mandated by the Ministry of Education. Students in Kindergarten-Grade 3 are encouraged, but not required, to wear a non-medical mask. Grand Erie will utilize opportunities to provide regular breaks for students so they can remove their masks during the day. For example, students will be provided with chances to physically distance by going outside.

Mental Health Support for Parents and Families
During these challenging times, you may be experiencing stress and worry about having your child return to school – either in-class or online. The following are considerations to help you support your children during this time.
First and foremost, children and youth need connections with adults who will help lead them through the back-to-school transition. Be it through attending in-class or online, both will be new experiences for everyone. As parents and caregivers, you already have experience with being a natural caretaker and helping your child navigate difficult situations in life. It is through your leadership that your children will become prepared for back-to-school and grow their own resilience.
We know that moving forward from the pandemic, our children and youth need three things:
