From Box to Circle
Picture
Mrs. Miller is participating in a conference where she is one of the presenters. Her Presentation is called From Box To Circle and she will be talking about the value of Sharing Circles in the classroom as a means for discussing ideas, sharing ideas, and problem solving among the members. In a circle she reminds us that all voices matter and we all  have our our unique stories about life and the way we see things. The circle also represents the integration of all the subject areas in lessons and discussions similar to the aspects of giving thanks for all living things.
In this assignment, you are asked to record all of the things which you have learned from participating in a Sharing Circle as well as you personal reflections on the value of holding circles in the classroom.

Dear Fellow People,
Hi. My name is Kalani and I am a student at A.G. Hodge in Brantford, Ontario. I like the idea of a box to circle because we get to share our feelings and talk things through as a community. Remember, if you are one stick you can break easily but if there are many sticks we cannot break as easily. Live. Love. Laugh.
Sincerely,
The Students in Room 1

I think the Box to Circle is a great idea because you can say how you feel and you are part of a community. Also, you can let out your problems as well as allows us to learn all the things Mrs. Miller teaches us. - Lily

I like doing circles with Mrs. Miller. It helps when you are hurt and/or sad and your classmates understand your feelings. A circle can move on but a square cannot
- Mason

I like the idea of Box to Circle because it is a fun learning experience by going outside and exploring nature, learning about our ancestors, and the wampum belts. The circle is a peaceful environment. - Tyler

I think the Box to a Circle idea is a good idea because you can say what you need to say and it will stay in the circle. - Anna

I like the Box to Circle idea because in circle we get to see how other people are feeling. Also we get to make agreements within the circle.  - Will

I think the circle is very important to the Six Nations. So like in a circle if someone can share how they are feelings and their friends will not get mad at them. - Luke.

I think a Box to Circle means that a box has edges and edges can be split but you you go in a circle the community comes back together and you can agree with others and stand up for them when they are hurt. - Nolan
