Research Methods
For this week's word problem (see below for Word Problem), Miss Davies used the following website - https://www.ancienthistorylists.com/ancient-civilizations/10-oldest-ancient-civilizations-ever-existed/...

Each week different numbers will be provided... students are asked to work with at least one number - preferably one that challenges them a little bit and that they are comfortable with - and create a table using the information provided on the Number of the Week webpage.
The numbers for this week are:

Ancient Civilizations Timeline Math
Using the information below, calculate the number of years that each of the civilizations lasted (e.g. Medieval Times existed from 500- 1500CE so that 1500 - 500 = 1000 therefore Medieval Times lasted for about 1000 years). As an extension, calculate the approximate number of years that each of the cilvilizations existed from today (e.g. Medieval Times 500- 1500 so that 2020 - 1500 = 520 therefore Medieval Times exited around 520 years ago).

Worksheets
The following are two websites that provide free worksheets for all stands of math..
Use the links above to complete math activities and to help learn your multiplication math facts. By the end of grade 4 you need to know up to and including the 10 times tables... if you wish to try 11 it is the same as the ones times table but double the number... ie. 1 x 2 = 2 11 x 2 = 22

Over the next several weeks, we are going to learn about different early societies and ancient civilizations... last week you were asked to pick a civilization and find a map, the climate, and the timeline for it ...
This week you are asked to highlight the roles and responsibilities of the people and the social or political structure.
For example, in Medieval Times feudalism was practiced which meant that the king or Queen was at the top with all the power and the poor peasants were at the bottom.

Use the link below to get an understanding and learn about the current science strand being covered this week.
If you wish, try the experiment highlighted in the video... write up the instructions and record your observations using the scientific method.

Virtual Field Trips
Take a different virtual trip each week... record where you went, what you did, what you learned, and whom in your home may have "come" along with you...
Remember to try and/or practise a physical activity each day. If you wish, design your own activity... write it up and share it with the class.
Using paper towel rolls, create at least one person in your civilization... I have included a few examples ...
The Importance Of Washing Your Hands
Also, remember to stay healthy by getting plenty of rest and sleep, eating healthy foods , and lots of exercise for your body and mind.
