  • Countish: a math game about estimation. 
  • Feelingsish: create a dance about feelings.
  • Seasonsish: a creative drawing interpretation of the four seasons.

Ramon felt sad when his brother made fun of his drawings. It made him not want to draw anymore. When people say unkind things we need to choose not to let that bother us. If we did let it bother us, it might SQUISH OUR ISH, just like Ramon who stopped trying to draw. Each of us has the power inside to choose whether or not to let things that people say SQUISH OUR ISH or not. Copy and complete the form above fill in statements that demonstrate a fixed and growth mindset on thr sheet and in the book. You may also wish to do one for a day in your own life... see you how do... do you have more fixed or growth mindset statements.

Here are some examples that demonstrates an "ish" attitude...


  • “I know it’s not perfect, but I am proud of it.”
  • “This is my own way of doing it, and I like it.”
  • “You might think that, but not everyone does.”


Scenarios to Practices your "ish" attitude
  • Scenario: A student is reading in front of the class says a word almost right. How will the class react?
  • Scenario: A student is singing loudly, but nicely during music. How do the people sitting next to this student react?
  • Scenario: A student realizes that his handwriting is not as neat as his neighbors. How does the student react?
  • Scenario: A student from another class says something unkind about the work we have out on the walls. What do you say to that student?
  • Scenario: You are writing a story and you don’t know how to spell a word correctly. What do you do?
