Why Easter?
Easter Sunday (also known as Resurrection Sunday) is the most important day of the year for Christians, as it is the celebration of Jesus being resurrected from the dead. Easter is not held on the same date every year. This is called a moveable feast.
The English word "Easter" is derived from Eostre, the name of the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring. Her festival occurred at the vernal equinox. The French word for Easter, Pâcques, comes from the Greek word for Passover, which is the Jewish holiday that is celebrated at about the same time of the year.

Feberge Eggs
The Original Feberge Egg
Picture
In 1885, Tsar Alexander III landed on the perfect Easter gift for his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna: a bespoke egg commissioned from Peter Carl Faberge, a master goldsmith of the jewelry company House of Faberge. The Hen Egg was a simple white enamel egg that twisted apart to reveal a golden yolk, the yolk opened to show a golden hen, and in the hen was a diamond crown and a tiny ruby pendant. The materials were costly, but the magical surprise was priceless. The empress was so delighted that the tsar gave a royal order to the House of Faberge and from that year forward the opulent eggs were made for the Russian court every Easter.
His son, Nicholas II, continued the tradition, giving one egg to his mother and one to his wife Alexandra every year, each more elaborate than the last.

Egg Carton Crafts

Picture
Egg cartons come in a variety of sizes, reflecting consumer needs for various amount of eggs. Some of the most commonly available sizes are for half a dozen eggs, a dozen eggs, 15 eggs, 18 eggs and 20 eggs. Containers for more than 20 eggs are often egg trays rather than egg cartons.
The egg carton was invented by newspaper editor Joseph Coyle in Smithers, British Columbia, in 1911.
